Planning a local trip, bro? You need the right travel essentials for men. You can’t just toss random things into your bag and hope for the best.
If you’re heading to the beaches of Palawan, exploring the streets of Cebu, or hiking Mount Pinatubo, you gotta pack smart. This packing list for guys has you covered.
We also have a free downloadable version of this checklist at the end of this guide, so make sure to scroll down at the end and save it!
Clothing and Footwear
Stylish OOTDs for All Occasions
You can’t be that guy repeating shirts in every pic. Not cool, bro. Pack:
▢ Breathable shirts and tank tops for that fresh, pawis-free vibe.
▢ Board shorts for beach adventures in Boracay, Siquijor, Siargao, etc.
▢ Lightweight pants for hiking Mount Pulag, Mount Apo, Mount Pinatubo, etc.
▢ A light jacket for chilly Baguio or Sagada nights.
Footwear Fit for Travel Kings
Your man packing list isn’t complete without the right kicks:
▢ Sneakers for city strolls.
▢ Flip-flops or slippers for beach walks and hotel use.
▢ Hiking boots or hiking sandals for mountain trails.
Gadgets and Tech Essentials
Must-Have Gadgets for the Modern Cool Guy
What’s a trip without gadgets? Your men's travel must haves include:
▢ A waterproof phone case for beach and water activities.
▢ Power bank for uninterrupted selfies.
▢ Drone for capturing those epic hiking views.
▢ Noise-canceling headphones for long bus rides.
▢ Laptop if you work from home and you’d rather work at the beach.
▢ Laptop charger.
Essential Tech Accessories
Don’t forget these in your male travel essentials:
▢ Universal adapter for your gadgets.
▢ Travel-friendly charging cables and plugs.
▢ Action camera for capturing underwater adventures.
Toiletries and Grooming Essentials
Stay Fresh, Smell Good, and Look Sharp
Not all accommodations provide toiletries, especially when you’re staying at a budget hotel, Airbnb, transient, or homestay. Also, make sure that all bottles are less than 100ml if you’re flying with hand-carry luggage only.
Your packing list for guys should scream fresh:
▢ Waterproof pouch for your toiletries
▢ Toothbrush and toothpaste.
▢ Shampoo sachet and small soap bar.
▢ Deodorant – because pawis happens.
▢ Perfume or cologne to keep that smell good energy.
▢ Razor and grooming kit for that fresh look.
▢ Portable bath towel so that you can take a shower.
Quick-Dry Bath Towel for Your Travel Needs
A regular bath towel? Too bulky. Get the IslaDry microfiber travel bath towel. Quick-drying, compact, and perfect for the beach, mountains, or city staycations. No need to worry about not having a towel in your Airbnb or homestay.
Bags
▢ Duffel bag or backpack for weekend trips.
▢ Small body bag for all your necessities.
▢ 7kg hand-carry luggage for 3 to 4 nights of stay.
▢ 20kg check-in luggage for 5 or more nights of stay.
Tip: Make sure to check airline restrictions in terms of size. There are airports and airlines that are strict in terms of luggage size and weight.
AirAsia has recently become more strict with the size of your hand-carry luggage. We’ve seen people have their hand carries checked in because of the incorrect cabin bag size and overweight baggage.
Make sure it’s strictly 7kg for both bags. And make sure your cabin bag doesn’t exceed the 56cm height, including the wheels.
The size are as follows:
- 56x36x23cm for hand-carry rolling luggage.
- 30x40x10cm for personal bag.

Sunlight Air also has a smaller hand-carry bag size requirement. You’re only allowed to bring a rolling luggage of 35x40x20cm.
Take note that that’s smaller than the regular 56cm hand-carry rolling luggage.

In our experience, Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines (PAL) are more lenient in terms of hand-carry luggage. But we suggest that you still follow the 7kg weight limit for hand-carry luggage.
You don’t want to buy extra check-in luggage at the airport just because you are too complacent. That’s extra gastos!
Outdoor Essentials for Beach and Hiking
Beach Trip Must-Haves
Planning to chill in Siargao, Boracay, or Coron? Don’t forget:
▢ Sunscreen to avoid the tanned-to-burnt look.
▢ Waterproof dry bag for your gadgets.
▢ Sunglasses and a cap for that cool guy vibe.
▢ Portable towel to keep yourself dry from island hopping.
Hiking and Mountain Camping Gear
Mountains are calling? Pack these for your next bundok trip:
▢ Tent and sleeping bag.
▢ Headlamp and power bank.
▢ Flashlight for dark nights and emergencies.
▢ Refillable water bottle to stay hydrated (Make sure it’s empty when you’re flying).
Other Guys Trip Essentials
Extra Men’s Travel Necessities
▢ Travel documents and IDs.
▢ Passport for international travel.
▢ Hotel booking printout
▢ Itinerary
▢ Cash and travel-friendly wallet (Not everyone accepts GCash and PayMaya)
▢ Snacks, candies, and hydration tablets.
▢ Entertainment like books or a playlist.
